Our Story

Founded in 2016 by artist and designer Janice Nelson, Janice Nelson Designs is an art, stationery, and textile company offering unique and one-of-a-kind watercolor artwork.

Inspired by nature, travels, botany, adventure, imagination, and life's patterns, Janice strives to bring a new and unique edge to the textile market. 

"Free-spirited design meets the structure of textiles". All designs begin in Janice's sketchbook, where every original design is hand-drawn and/or painted. A combination of paints, hand-made natural dyes, and pens are all used to create Janice's ornate and detailed patterns. Often in today's world, hand-craft is tossed aside for fast-paced digital designing, in which the art is not created on paper. This detracts from the special quality that only hand-created pieces possess. At Janice Nelson Designs, we want to bring customers beautifully-designed goods that have been manufactured to showcase that artistic quality is truly greater than mass-manufactured quantity. Fusing ethical practices and creative hand-drawn elements, we are proud to bring you high-quality, functional products with fresh design sense. Janice designs in small quantities to ensure that all products are of the highest caliber, using 100% natural fabrics for every item.

In 2017, we launched our stationery collection, which includes seasonal and nature-themed greeting cards, and both custom and semi-custom wedding stationery. 

Janice Nelson is a summa cum laude graduate of New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology, where she earned her BFA in Textile and Surface Design.
